  9. During the development of X-DVE, our titling/animation system, one of the
  10. first problems I had to face was to choose an animation format suited
  11. for video resolutions (meaning both PAL and NTSC) fast enough to play 
  12. smooth, even with high resolution and "deep" screens.
  13. I started to test the various standard animation formats, like Anim-5,
  14. Anim-7 etc. but they were all too slow and gave other extra features
  15. (like multiple palette handling, multi frame rates, complete multitasking)
  16. which I could stand without.
  17. The only anim format very near to my requirements was SCALA's anim 32I, but:
  18. - there was no documentation for it.
  19. - it was smooth enough, but trying to swith caches off (68040) display
  20. started to flash, making me think of a wrong double buffering tecnique.
  21. So, I decided to start working on a new compression tecnique (XFA) that
  22. now is in your hands.
  23. If you are developing animation programs and you need a fast, compact,
  24. reliable, powerful anim format, be sure this library is for you.
  25. xfa.library includes all the functions you need for packing, unpacking,
  26. playing, loading and saving IFF-XFA animations.
